I try to do a daily painting each day but occasionally miss that goal. I paint in oil, acrylic and watercolor so my paintings will vary in medium. I paint small and large. I paint landscapes, doing plein air when the weather cooperates, stilllifes, florals, people and pets, and most any subject that inspires me that day.

Hawaii Sunset

This is another sunset scene that I painted from photos I took on the Hawai trip. We were eating lobster at an ocean side restaurant when I took this. The colors just got brighter and brighter. There was a luau taking place just down in the foreground but I left all those people and dancers out. This is a 7x10 watercolor, matted out to an 11x14. Not for sale. It was a wonderful evening with good food, wonderful family and a beautiful view. Such fun!!

Hawaii Sunset #1 2009

I did this painting after taking a trip to Hawaii to observe my granddaughter getting married on the beach. I will give this to her as a wedding present. The sunsets there are so beautiful that one simply cannot duplicate it with paint or even photos. This one is not for sale of course. It is matted to 11x14.

Fly fisherman

Since I have not started painting yet (my recovery is slow) , just thought I would post an old painting. This is a watercolor about 14x18, matted to a 20x24. A friend has this one. I hope to start painting soon. The weather is getting nice out so I am getting the "bug" to do some plein air painting.

Snowman

This is just a small greeting card, about 6x8 which I did a series of. I haven't blogged anything for quite awhile because of having knee surgery and not being able to get to my basement studio. I am doing a lot of rehab, which has sort of consumed my life for the present. I just wanted to post my little snowman to tell all of you, "Happy New Year" and I hope to be back to painting before long. As an artist friend always says to other artist friends, "keep your brushes wet". I hope to soon.

On Point #1

For some reason this one didn't go out on the blog correctly yesterday so I am re-sending it. This one was taken in the shade. It is a 16x20 oil on a linen panel. Such a nice surface to work on. The other one is 8x12 and this one is 9x12, which I had a frame for. I now have a frame for the other one also. I liked the effect I got , I don't know which one I like the best, although the other one scanned the best I think. It is a 9x12 oil on a Raymar panel. I love that linen surface! This painting brings back memories of my trip last summer that was so great. It is framed in a driftwood frame with a linen liner with a gold lip. It is $300.00 including S&H.

Red & PInk Roses #1

Here is the mate to the other. This is a 24x36 oil and was painted from the photos that I took this spring in our lovely park. Some day I will have to paint it with the people playing in the band. We still have band concerts three times a week in the summer. I think I like the small one better. It was fun to paint though. This is a 16x20 oil of our local park with the bandstand and the springs. People used to come to the springs for healing waters. I am working on a 24x36 like this one. Then I had better look for another subject. Or maybe another season. How would that be? Our Picnic celebration is in July and I am just probably excited to see old friends so am feeling nostalgic. Maybe that is why I am doing so many of these scenes. It is fun though. Maybe I will wait for fall before doing some more.

Bandstand in ElDo 2008

I have really been in the "bandstand mood". I am trying to perfect the scene so I can hang the painting in the local bank. Of course I have to eliminate a few trees, monuments etc. so it is not exact. Our summer concerts are so wonderful for a town this size and I am hoping everyone enjoys this scene. This is the time of year that organizations ask me for a donated painting for their raffle to make money. I don't know how many of these paintings I have done. Many!! It is a 24x36 oil and is not for sale. It is matted out to about an 18x24 or so. It has a natural colored matt with gold liner and is ready to frame. It would need to be under glass. These paintings on rice paper are really fun as you don't quite know where the paint is going and since I am a really controlling painter, it is sort of hard for me to keep it in control. I love doing them. It is $200.00 uncluding S&H.

Dana's Iris

This is a large watercolor and belongs to my daughter.
