Hawaii #1

This is the first one I did and again, it photographed too dark. I will retake both paintings when my light is different. This also is an 11x15, matted to 17x20 and is an oil on gessoed watercolor paper.

Hawaii II

I painted this from some photos from my trip to Hawaii last year for my granddaughter's wedding. It photographed a bit dark so I will redo it when I get a different light to play with. It is an oil, painted on gessoed watercolor paper. It is 11x15, matted to 17x20.

Pomme Hillside

This is a 6x8 oil, painted on a Raymar panel. I love this surface to paint on. I painted this from a photo that I took at the Pomme de Terre area. The cedars are so pretty down there and a few trees were just beginning to turn in the early fall. I did this several days ago but I have to wait for these oils to dry before laying them on the scanner. This one is $150.00 unframed or $200.00 framed in a gold plein air frame.

"Taco" the Ref

This is another drawing that my son, Kirk, did of another one of his referee buddies. I think he has one or two more to go. I just had to show it off.

Green Tree Study

I'm still playing with those greens. As you notice, I have underpainted my boards with different reds and tried not to cover them all and hopefully letting them peak through in all areas of the painting. Fun stuff! I like this one better without the cattle. Some days I end up wiping off more than I leave on the board but these just seemed to fall together in no time. In fact, I did this one and the last fall scene one Saturday afternoon. It is painted on a Raymar panel and it is also framed in a soft gold plein air frame and is $500.00.

Cattle in Green Landscape

Last week I posted a small 8x10 green landscape and my son wanted it so before he took it I was still playing around with greens and wanted to play some more. I put some little cows in it as my family always wants me to put some "life" in my paintings. I like the ones better without them. I put this one in a soft gold plein air frame and it is $450.00.

Fall at Pomme de Terre

I have finally gotten my oils dry so I can blog them. I have trouble taking photos of oils so this one didn't come out so good but here it is. It is an 11x14 oil on a Fredrix linen board. I painted this from a photo I took last fall at this beautiful lake. I have it set in a wide deep gold frame with a linen liner and it is $500.00, framed.

Resting Cows

This is just a small 9x12 oil on a wrap around canvas that I put on the scanner even though it was too big so it is cropped some and it came out too dark. I will try photographing it later and maybe get a better picture of it. It is just a quick little painting, playing with greens some more. I have three more to photograph because they are too large to put on the scanner. They are 11x14 and I will do this as soon as I can get to it. Right now I have a large family Easter dinner to get ready for.

Landscape in Greens

Now back to me. This is an 8x10 oil on a Fredrix linen board. I love painting on this surface. This was very quickly done as I mainly felt I was in a rut on my greens and wanted to try some new mixes. I like the glow in the sky from the mottled warm and cool colors. My son, Kirk, latched onto this one so it is not available for sale.

Kevin, the Ref

This is a little cartoon painting, also done by my son, Kirk. Kirk was the 2009 Missouri State Football Referee of the year and this is Kevin, one of his crew. They have a big time. Kirk plans on doing one of these drawings for each of his crew. It is about 7x9 on watercolor paper. He works in acrylic and watercolor. I want him to try oils some day but he thinks since he is left handed, he would have his hand in the paint all the time and make a big mess.

Flooded Timber

This is another acrylic, painted by my son, Kirk. I think this one is one of his best. He loves to paint wildlife and does a terrific job. This is probably 8x10 and painted on a gessoed board. I think it is fantastic, but of course, I am prejudice.

Kirk's Cowboy

I am going to have to brag now just a little. The next few painting are by my son. He is not a full time artist; he is a banker and has little time to paint, but does a wonderful job. He paints in acrylics and the first time I got him to paint, many years ago, he said to me, "mom, you just created a monster". He loves it!! One begins to see the beautiful world that God has given us when one starts looking at it through a painter's eyes. This is about 8x12 on gessoed illustration board.

Bennett Stream

This is an 8x10 oil, painted, and revised some, of a stream at Bennett Springs. I had a fly fisherman in the water but did not like it, so I made him quit fishing and go home. Again, it scanned darker than the original. It is painted on a stretched wrap-a-round canvas and sits on an easel. It does not have to be framed as it is painted on all edges. These small ones are fun to do and I don't have to use my brain like on big ones so I find them very relaxing. This one is $125.00.

Stream

I hate to throw away paints so instead of scraping my palette and throwing the paint away, I got out my palette knife and a small 5x7 board and made this one up. It scanned a little darker than the original. This was a fun painting to do. It is on a board and I painted the edges or it could sit on an easel or since it is a standard size, it could be framed. It is $75.00 unframed.

Snow on my Cedar Tree

This is a very small 6x6 oil on a wrap-around canvas and sits on an easel. I took some photos of the snow and this tree is at the edge of our property and it sort of grows up out of the middle of the cedar tree, so if is doesn't make sense to you, hopefully this will explain it. I painted it very fast, trying to keep it looser than I normally do. It was just so fun! These little paintings are fast and fun. It is $125.00, with an easel.

Yellow Rose

This is another mini that sits on an easel. It is on a wrap-a-around canvas with the edges painted so no frame is needed. It is an oil and is 6x6. It is $75.00.

Lake of the Ozarks Hill

This is another small 6x8 oil. I painted it from a photo taken in the spring at the lake. It is on a wrap-a-around canvas and sits on an easel. The edges are painted so no frame is needed. It is $125.00.

Colorado Wildflowers

This is a small 8x10 painted from a photo that I took on our Colorado trip about three years ago. It is painted on a wrap-a-around canvas and looks real pretty sitting on a small ornate burnished gold easel. It was fun to do but I think I will try it again as I think I can do a little better job getting the colors better. Although usually my second attempt at painting the same subject doesn't turn out as good as the first. It is $300.00 with the easel.

Pomme Hill

This is a small 6x8 oil, painted on Masonite, of the early morning sun coming up over the hill in back of the cabin. It is framed in a gold plein air frame and is $200.00. I am mainly doing small work right now, except for the bird dogs I did. They are quick and easy and if it doesn't go well, I just wipe it off and start again. That way I can work with small blocks of time.

This is what it looks like on the little gold easel.

Pomme Hillside

This is another little 8x10 oil, painted on a wrap around canvas so does not need a frame. It will sit on a little gold easel. It scanned a bit darker than the original but is o.k. I will also donate it to the Fresh Gallery, Springfield, Mo., for their anniversary celebration. It was quick and fun!! SOLD

Island Grove Revenge #2

This is my second painting of Island Grove Revenge. I put this one in a totally different setting. I just hope it looks like the same dog. Again, my photography is not good due to lighting so will redo this at a later date. Also, I hope the two owners don't like the same painting, then I might really be in trouble and have to redo one. I am just now trying to get back into some serious painting since my surgery over a year ago. I've done a few but not many in the past year. This was fun! I just hope I can keep the momentum going.

Island Grove Revenge

This is a painting I was commissioned to do as this dog is the 23rd NBHA Futurity Winner. His name is Island Grove Revenge. It is a 16x20 oil and I was asked to do two paintings of the dog because two people own it together. So this is the first one, then I will blog the second painting. This one is painted like the photo they provided, background and everything. My photography is not the best lighting as the weather has been so gloomy here in Missouri and I usually like to photograph outdoors. So if spring ever comes, I will rephotograph the paintings and replace these.
